MEET : The Ring O Bells, Church Lane, Marple SK6 7AY Please arrive by 10:15 to use loos and order lunch before walk. SatNav recommended for this approximately 50 minute drive from central Warrington.
WALK : A picturesque walk along river path, canal path, road and footpaths; 1 stile. There are some long, slow ascents and descents.
SUGGESTED ROUTE : Take the M56 towards Manchester. After the Airport exit, watch for signs to Stockport and Sheffield, M56, follow these signs to the left, and continue to the M60. Continue on M60 to Junction 27 (beware that due to the vagaries of numbering, you go from J1 to J27!) From J27, follow the signs to A626 to Marple around the roundabout. About half a mile along you need to watch out for the left turn at the first set of lights – still signed A626 to Marple. This is a long road, well signposted and it will lead you into Marple. Look out for Rose Hill station and the Railway pub on the right; soon after these you come to traffic lights where you turn right onto Church Lane. Follow this road up the hill. Shortly after the canal bridge you will see the pub on the right – car park is at the back down “Waterways”.
