START:- Helsby Quarry Woodland Car park, Alvanley Rd, Frodsham. Post Code WA6 9PT.
WALK:- mainly on woodland paths, no stiles but some steep steps and short rock scrambles.
DIRECTIONS:- A very easy route is to take the M56 towards Chester. Come off at Junction 14 taking first exit from roundabout onto A5117 toward Frodsham/Helsby. Go straight through Traffic lights and after ~ 200yds, on a bend, turn right onto Primrose Lane (brown sign “Helsby Golf Club”). Proceed ~ 0.8mile to T- Junction and turn left onto Helsby Road. Stay on this road for 0.5 mile ( its name changes to Alvanley Rd) to arrive at the car park on left (free, no toilets).

TERRAIN : Mod/Strenuous as there are a few uphill sections. 9 Stiles.
DIRECTIONS : A55 to junction 18, then follow signs for Conway then Town Centre. In the one way system, turn left after the small Post Office sign into UPPERGATE STREET. Drive under the castle walls arch then continue on the same road, ignoring turn offs to the right and left. After about 1.2 miles, ignore a car park on the left and continue for a further 0.4 mile, passing Sychnant Country House on the right, then turn left into Sychnant Car Park. (If you get to a car park on the right, you have gone too far). It took about 1hour, 10 minutes from M56, J10

The road is narrow in places but there are plenty of passing places. The three pigeons is in the village on the RHS.

Directions: approx 25 miles from jct 10 of M56. M56 to jct 6, 3rd exit at roundabout to A538 Wilmslow. Follow A538 to Wilmslow centre traffic lights. Turn left and then right at next traffic lights, signposted to station. At mini roundabout turn left onto A5102 to Stockport and Poynton. Keep on A5102 through various roundabouts until Woodford (Notcutts garden centre on left), and take right turn at next mini roundabout to Poynton. At centre of Poynton, with church on right, go straight across at 2 mini roundabouts into Park Rd, following brown signs for Anson Engine Museum. Go past shops and fork left into Middlewood Rd, and then right into Anson Rd, always following brown signs for Anson Engine Museum. At cross roads go straight across (no through road) and car park is on left hand side.

After 1.5 miles in Hurst Green, turn left at the Shireburn Arms. The car park is on the right immediately after the Bayley Arms car park.

First exit off roundabout to Bollington. Continue on main road through Bollington. Car park is on the left after traffic lights under viaduct and Holly Bush pub.

WALK: Paths, tracks and lanes east of Knutsford towards Mobberley and then round Tatton Mere. Mostly fairly level, but quite a few stiles. Refreshments available afterwards in Knutsford.
DIRECTIONS: Get to Knutsford via M6 J19, A556 and A5033, or via A50. Follow the A50 south, and turn left at the lights onto the A537 towards Macclesfield. Go past the station and Aldi and immediately left at the next lights up Hollow Lane towards Mobberley (B5085). In about 0.3 miles, the parking area is on a slip road to your left. If it is full, you will have to park at the roadside nearby.

WALK: a couple of strenuous inclines (one at the end of the walk). Route is through moorland, reservoir paths and a canal towpath, with some rocky paths and small boggy section. Would recommend walking sticks.
DIRECTIONS: Suggested route M62/M60/M62 to Leeds. Exit at J21 Milnrow. At end of slip road turn left to Milnrow on A640. After 0.5 mile turn right to Hollingworth Lake B6225 – follow brown signs. Go passed the lake all the way to Littleborough. At ‘T’ junction of A58 turn right towards Halifax. White House about 1.5 miles on left at top of hill. (7 miles from Junction 21)

Just after the Pack Horse Inn on the RHS, there is a roundabout. Take the 3rd exit signposted B5392. Follow the B5392 for 0.1 miles. Then continue onto Gawsworth Road. Stay on Gawsworth Road for 1.9 miles. Then turn left into Dark Lane. Travel for 0.2 miles. Continue onto Church Lane and the church is on your left after 0.6 miles. (At Broken Cross there is a brown sign - signposted Gawsworth)

SUGGESTED ROUTE: A49 South to cross roads/traffic lights where it joins the A556 at Blakemere. Turn left onto A556. After about half a mile, turn right at traffic lights onto Dalefords Lane. After 2 mile turn left onto Beauty Bank (narrow lane) and the Plough is a few yards on the left. Either park in the pub car park, however there is an overflow car park on the right just after the pub that you can use.
DISTANCE: About 20 minutes from A49/M56 junction 10
TERRAIN: Easy with about 9 Stiles. There is a very wet small section so spare socks may be useful.

WALK: Takes in quiet country lanes,clearly defined footpaths and fields. Some steeper sections on Bulkeley Hill and Rawhead, with ~ 100 steps, 10 kissing gates, and 6 Styles. May be muddy in places. Great panoramic views across the Cheshire Plain (weather permitting).
DIRECTIONS from Warrington: Follow A49 south to Beeston (~30 miles). Take exit on right (Dean Bank) signposted (brown signs) for Beeston Castle/Candle Workshops. Follow brown signs for Candle Workshops for 5 miles. Park in public car park at entrance to Candle Workshops car park. Toilets/cafe inside Candle Workshops.

DIRECTIONS: Coming from Warrington on the A574 cross a mini roundabout and carry on to a BP garage (on the right). Just past the garage and the Spice Lounge restaurant turn right into Shaw Street and left into the large car park. There is no parking fee.
WALK: Mostly flat across fields that can be muddy in a few places. There is a small climb up what was the Silver Lane waste tip and is now grass and tree covered with paths. At the base of the hill are ponds that usually have wildfowl swimming about. On a clear day there are extensive views to the Pennines and West down the Mersey Valley. The walk returns to Shaw Street via Culcheth Linear Park and a section by the Manchester Liverpool Railway originally built by Stephenson. There are several stiles. Distance about 7 miles.
