TERRAIN: Easy – parks (some paths could be muddy)/city/promenade
DIRECTIONS: Make your way to the Widnes end of the Runcorn/Widnes bridge follow the A562/A561 road for about 20 minutes for approximately 9 miles through various sets of traffic lights. You will pass the Jaguar Factory on the right, then the Estuary Commercial Park and Crown Plaza Hotel (formerly the old Liverpool Airport) on the left. Notice the Match Factory on the left then pass through Garston and Aigburth. Shortly after St Ann’s church on the left turn left at the significant traffic lights into Jericho Lane. At the island turn left and stop in the second car park on the right opposite the Otterspool pub.

MEET : Car park and start of walk - Timbersbrook Car Park, Weathercock Lane, Congleton. CW12 3PP. Landranger 118. Explorer 268. No toilets.
TERRAIN: Lanes, field paths and towpath, muddy in places. Few stiles. One long steady climb.
WALK: First to the Macclesfield Canal and then a climb of the Cloud.
DIRECTIONS : From Warrington take M6 south. Exit at junction 18 and take A54 towards Holmes Chapel and Congleton. Travel through Congleton following signs for A54. Go through Buglawton, then approx. 1 mile further on take a slight right into Middle Lane. Go for 0.6 miles, then turn right into Crouch Lane. Go for 0.3 miles and there is a T junction. Turn right into Weathercock Lane. Go for 0.5 miles and the car park is on the LHS.

DIRECTIONS: M6 North to exit at Junction 33 – head south on A6 for 2½ miles – look for The Holly pub on the left – take next left turn into Hollins Lane, brown-signed Cleveley Mere Fishery and JC Country Store – you will only see the sign for Hollins Lane/Dolphinholme as you are in the process of turning left! Turn right still following brown signs for Fishery and Country Store – pass these and look for Scorton Picnic Site parking on the left, about 1 mile after leaving the A6 (The postcode PR3 1BU is on the correct road but just past the picnic site)
